Apple: Add 8GB of RAM to Macbook Pros for $1,200
Apple’s offering 8GB of memory on 15″ MacBook Pros for $1,200, which is about double the cost of an average retail notebook. Previously, Apple only offered 8GB of memory on the uni-body 17″ MacBook Pro.
Replacing memory on the new MacBook Pros isn’t as easy compared to previous Apple notebooks, which may tempt some power users to bite the bullet and pay for the upgrade. If you really need 8GB of RAM for your MacBook Pro I suggest buying memory from a source like Other World Computing, MacMall or FastMac.

$1,200? I can’t imagine anyone actually having a need for 8GB RAM in a notebook.
