HP Offers New EliteBook Folio 1040

According to GottaBeMobile, HP unveiled a couple of new notebooks including the HP EliteBook Folio 1040 that HP brags measures 16.1 percent thinner and 7.3 percent lighter than earlier versions of the Folio Ultra-book. The 1040 comes in a rugged body that adheres to the MIL-STD 810G rating for military specs. They designed it for enterprise users that need a rugged and powerful machine that’s also light and lean. HP’s New ForcePad in the EliteBook Folio 1040

The HP EliteBook Folio 1040 touchpad comes with a new technology called a ForcePad, demonstrated below. It simulates a click instead of actually lowering as the user presses. This sounds a lot like older touch pads before Apple made the clicking touch pad popular. The ForcePad gives an audible response when clicked. Removing the clicking mechanism makes it more durable, according to HP.

The pressure on the ForcePad speeds up scrolling and makes it easier to tap and drag. Older touch pads didn’t usually come with advanced pressure sensitivity, like the ForcePad. Some could mimic it, but not at this level.

Processor and Display Specs

The EliteBook Folio 1040 will ship with a 14.4-inch HD display powered by an Intel Core i7 Haswell processor. This gives users power and long battery life. The resolution options include 720p (1600×900) or 1080p (1920×1080) depending on the user’s needs. It starts at $1299.

The computer comes with an aluminum unibody design and weighs 3.3 pounds. The dark color looks nice.

This year’s model comes with fewer connections to make it thinner. Instead of a VGA port, HP uses a dongle system with a VGA adapter that connects to a side dock connection. This gives users the best of both worlds with a thinner design while offering the legacy connector.
