Libox Offers Unlimited Media Sharing

Libox, launching today as a public beta, offers users the ability to share an unlimited amount of files, with an unlimited amount of people. Users can share pictures, songs, or even HD video without limits.

Libox can be used via an application compatible with Mac and PC, its web-base interface, or on a mobile device using the mobile version of the website, making Libox a versatile service that anyone can use. The question is what kind of servers do these guys run that allow them to offer unlimited sharing?

The fact is, the content is initially streamed from the computer that uploaded the file. Basically, Libox uses other computers as its servers, reminiscent of a P2P network like Limewire. With this unique networking, Libox is able to offer its unlimited file sharing services for free, while still keeping your information private.

Usually anything free has its downfalls. However, I have yet to see any with Libox. You’d think being completely free, that, if anything, the quality of the uploaded content would be less than desired. That isn’t the case. All HD video is preserved in the highest quality possible.

This new unlimited service could put pressure on other sharing services, such as Dropbox, which only offers 2GB for free. It will be interesting to see if we see the same kind of regulation on Libox, as we did on P2P file-sharing networks like Limewire and Kazaa. Hopefully, Libox will stay free and unlimited.
