Notebook Battery Recalls Will Cause Many IT Managers/Consumers to Switch Brands

An IDC survey shows many IT managers and consumers will consider switching notebook brands because of recent battery recalls. While 85% of the respondents say they will not change brands, 15% of the market is more than enough to make an impact on marketshare, especially amongst IT managers who order  such a large number of notebooks.
â€ÂThe silver lining is that most of the customers we surveyed aren’t foregoing notebook purchases,” says Richard Shim, senior research analyst with IDC’s Personal Computing program. “Instead, a small percentage indicate that they will alter their brand preference.â€ÂÃƒâ€šÃ‚
Dell, Apple, Lenovo, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Gateway, and Sony, have all issued battery recalls since August.
