Dell Inspiron R Series Updated with Switchable Lids & 2nd Gen Intel CPUs

Dell has announced an update to the popular Inspiron R series of notebooks today, adding the latest 2nd generation Intel Core i processors and the ability to switch lids so that your notebook can match your style.

The new Dell Inspiron R series includes the following updates, and spans several sizes of notebooks. The Inspiron R series delivers a higher quality machine than the standard Inspiron line without too great an increase in cost.

The Dell Inspiron R notebooks are available for purchase starting today at Dell.com and will show up soon at Dell approved resellers, likely including the shelf of your local Best Buy.

All of these models come with the base black SWITCH lid which can be swapped out for an array of colors and designs similar to the cases you might purchase to spice up your iPad. The current lineup of SWITCH Inspiron R lids  start at $39.99. There are 25 Switch lids available for purchase today and we expect to see more as the Inspiron line grows. The current SWITCH lids include designs from the India collection, OPI, Threadless.com Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Product RED and other artists.

The new Dell Inspiron R Series notebooks can be configured with Intel 2nd Generation Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors and support up to 8GB of RAM. The notebooks have SRS premium audio for an above average audio experience and come with Intel Wireless Display 2.0 to stream HD video to your HDTV without any wires. The movies will be streamed to your HDTV in 1080P with 5.1 surround sound with a WiDi adapter that retails for about $99.

The notebooks can also playback 3D content to your HDTV assuming you have a 3D HDTV, the integrated Blu-Ray player and an HDMI 1.4 connection.

The Dell Inspiron notebook have a chiclet style keyboard, HD Capable webcam and come with the Dell Stage software to deliver “one click” access to your photos, media, ebooks and social media servics.

    I am trying to figure out the memory configuration on the 14R with 4GB of RAM. Does is have a single 4GB chip or 2 2GB chips?
