LG Optimus V Android Smartphone Arrives on Virgin Mobile

Virgin Mobile announced the latest Android addition to their line of smartphones, the LG Optimus V. The LG Optimus V will cost $149, without the need for a contract.

The Optimus V is powered by Android 2.2 and offers users a 3.2″ display for surfing the web and watching YouTube clips over the built in 3G and Wifi connections. The device also has a 3.2 MP camera and access to the Android Market for access to games and applications of all types.

The Optimus V pairs with the Beyond Talk plans from Virgin Mobile which doesn’t require a contract and start at $25 for 300 minutes and unlimited messaging, email and web usage. Users who need more minutes can pick up a 1,200 minute plan for $40 or an unlimited plan for $60.

The phone comes with the popular Swype keyboard which allows you to swipe across the screen for text entry. This is faster than tapping out messages for many users. Like many Android devices it can be connected to email accounts including Exchange accounts that many companies use for corporate email.
