Apple Drops Restocking Fees In Stores Starting Tomorrow

Just in time for the rumored Verizon iPhone announcement Apple has announced that the company will no longer charge a restocking fee for items purchased in their retail stores.

This is great news for consumers, who will no longer be charged a 10% restocking fee if they open an iPod or MacBook and decide they don’t want that size or specific device. Returns still need to be made within 14 days.

For example, if someone purchases a MacBook and then realizes a MacBook Pro would be a better fit they can no return the original MacBook without paying a 10% restocking fee. Same goes for iPod and iPad capacities.

We applauded Best Buy for taking similar steps in time for the holidays and are likewise excited to see a more customer friendly policy rolling out at Apple. The new no restocking fee policy starts on January 11th.
