Apple Intros Notebook With No Keyboard…MacBook Wheel

I’ve blogged about Apple’s crappy design choices before and the MacWorld rumor mill is predicting a that the new 17-inch MacBook Pro won’t have a removable battery. I stumbled across this gem of a video produced by Onion News Network that pokes fun at how Apple trades functionality for form and simplicity.

Apple Introduces Revolutionary New Laptop With No Keyboard

Tonight my MacBook Pro ate through two batteries while I was at the Airport and had to pop in a third before boarding my flight to Las Vegas. It’s one of the few notebooks that lacks a card reader, which means I have to use an SD card adapter to transfer photos to it. Because the MacBook Pro’s ports are too close together my SD card adapter blocks the second USB port and I have to choose between blocking myFireWire 800 port or display adapter port.

The ONN video above is obviously exaggerating a little, but it’s kinda sad that as a MacBook Pro user I can really relate to it.

The new MacBook Pro takes forever to charge. My battery is at 67% and the power meter says it’ll take another 2 hours and 21 minutes to reach 100%. And that’s while I’m just updating the blog. When I’m editing videos the meter actually ticks backwards since the MacBook Pro draws more power than the AC adapter can provide when the processor and graphics card are under full load.
