AT&T announced that it is selling subsidized netbooks for between $49.99 and $349.99 with the purchase of a two-year mobile broadband contract. AT&T will also offer the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 with an integrated 3G modem for $849 with a 2-year AT&T DataConnect plan. The netbooks and ThinkPad will be available in a handful of AT&T stores in Philadelphia and Atlanta on a trial basis. 
The 6-cell extended battery for the HP Mini 1000 is shipping and on sales for $95.99 after a $24 discount. The Mini 1000 is one of my favorite netbooks, but its standard 3-cell battery just isn't enough for a lot of people. The 6-cell battery doubles the time you can work on the Mini 1000 on a single charge.
Samsung's releasing the 12.1-inch NC20 in the U.S. on March 16 through an exclusive partnership with Newegg.com. The NC20 is the NC10's bigger brother and is the latest entry into the 'is it a netbook or notebook?' category. 
It's hard to believe that just over one year ago, netbooks were a brand new class of laptops meant for the developing world. Its creators grossly undermined the public's appetite for cheap and portable computers and one year later, netbooks became the fastest growing segment in the market while every other market suffered painful losses in the brutal economy.
I'm a big fan of the HP Mini 1000 and it earned our first Editor's Choice award, but the quality of its built-in webcam is a weak point. The Mini 2140 has a similarly spec'd webcam, but it delivers a dramatically better image than the one found in the Mini 1000.

Low-priced, 720P HD pocket camcorders (palmcorders) are gaining market momentum and I believe consumers are drawn to the value proposition of low cost, high quality, portable, and convenient video capture and playback. As these devices proliferate, it leaves me contemplating how consumers will respond when they discover just how many of these notebooks or netbooks can't effectively play back that content. Whether or not low end notebooks or netbooks were designed to do this isn't relevant, as a recent NPD blog posting (citing new research) may suggest.

NVIDIA's new Ion platform is built to deliver a fully capable PC in a netbook form factor. Drew Henry showed me the reference platform, which combines an Intel Atom processor with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics. This combination means you can enjoy high definition content or even play video games.
Joanna Stern took a look at the first EeePC netbooks with touchscreens. The T91 (8.9 inches) and the T101H (10-inches) are convertible netbooks that look a lot different than previous Eee PCs.

Okay ladies, the HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam edition is definitely something worth checking out. HP worked with top designer Vivienne Tam to make the Mini 1000 netbook look less geek and more chic. HP's done a great job of making a small notebook that any fashionista would be happy to tote around.
