Virgin America: Day in the Clouds Contest

Virgin America and Google are teaming up for a promotion called The Day in the Cloud Challenge to promote in-flight WiFi. One lucky winner wil get 1TB of storage on Google Apps, a year of free flights and an HP netbook.

This promo is designed to raise awareness of Google’s suite of web applications and the contest page has some basic info that explains the concept of cloud computing.

The contest will take place on June 24 and is open to U.S. residents. All Virgin America flights will have free WiFi. The service is normally between $5.99 and $12.99, depending on the length of the flight.

I’ve taken several Virgin America flights and while I really enjoy the in-flight gadgetry, the customer service is what really sets this airline apart.

Virgin founder Richard Branson puts a lot of emphasis on making flying fun again. I got a chance to fly with him on a recent flight from San Francisco to Orange County. He explained a little about entertainment and technology when I chatted with him on the tarmac.
