WD Scorpio Notebook DriveWestern Digital today announced it is now shipping its 250 GB WD Scorpio 2.5-inch SATA hard drives. The drives employ perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology to achieve the highest capacity 2.5-inch drive to date.

The new WD Scorpio drives will have capacities ranging from 40GB to 250GB and spin at 5400 RPM. The 250GB notebook drive will retail for $199.

The 250GB capacity is equivalent to 100 hours of DVD-quality video or more than 4,000 hours of music in mp3 format.
