Apple now has more in common with Dell than running Intel Core Duos. Apple is recalling 1.8 million lithium-ion notebook batteries, which like Dellâ€â„¢s are manufactured by Sony. Apple has received nine reports of batteriesoverheating, including two reports of minor burns from handling overheatedcomputers and other reports of minor property damage.
The recalled 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook batteries were sold from 2003 through this month.
According to the company, userrs should stop using the recalled batteries immediately and contact Apple to arrange for a replacement battery, free of charge. After removing the recalled battery from their iBook or PowerBook, consumers should plug in the AC adapter to power the computer until a replacement battery arrives.
