A video has surfaced featuring from an iPhone dealer out of Brazil demonstrating the speed of the new iPhone 3Gs. As someone who has owned a first generation iPhone for quite some time I have to admit that the 3Gs seems to be extremely fast.
It doesn't take much more than a stroll around the web to see what everyone and their mother is talking about. Apple unveiled its rumored and highly anticipated iPhone 3Gs yesterday at the WWDC keynote presentation. Besides a number of significant hardware and software upgrades, they also decided to drop the price of their 8GB 3G (notice, no "s") model to a mere $99 with the hope that even the dude in charge of the fries at the local burger joint will be sending SMS messages to his girlfriend in between orders. If you are the previously mentioned "Fry Guy" I felt it might be important to share a few reasons why the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3Gs devices might not be for you.
Apple released a new 'Get a Mac' ad that portrays a woman shopping for a computer. As she states her requirements, several dull PC guys are dismissed while the Mac guy smirks. All of the PCs walk away when she states she wants a computer that doesn't have a ton of headaches, leaving her with the Mac guy.
Several bloggers are showing off their gear bags and what they carry over at Web Worker Daily. The GigaOM network doesn't have an official IT department, which means it's up to each blogger to select his/her own gear.
The Mac vs. PC argument is being stoked by Microsoft's "Laptop Hunters" commercials and a fresh round of Apple's "Get a Mac Ads." Fanboys on both side of the debate are making their cases, but Jim Goldman, CNBC's silicon valley bureau chief, made some of the most ridiculous pro-Mac arguments I've ever heard on TV.
Apple's released four new television commercials, featuring the usual "I'm a Mac....and I'm a PC" routine. Apple pokes fun at PCs and Microsoft throughout the commercials, while promoting only one Mac feature.
As someone who's switched from PC to Mac, I think the new Microsoft 'Laptop Hunters' commercials are getting too much attention and don't reflect how consumers...
Apple's offering 8GB of memory on 15" MacBook Pros for $1,200, which is about double the cost of an average retail notebook. Previously, Apple only offered 8GB ...
Apple recently released a couple updates to their cloud storage and syncing Mobile Me service. The relatively quiet updates have brought a few significant changes and upgrades to application that helps you keep files synched between your Mac, PC, and iPhone
Dexim, the maker of a number of iPhone products, showed me their upcoming USB hub, card reader, and iPhone/iPod doc for the MacBook Air. The look and feel is sp...
How many passwords do you use daily logging on and off your computer, your favorite social network, or to pay bills online? Some of us don't have much of an issue with this because our browsers autofill and remember much of that information for us, but is that really safe? What if you lost your notebook or even worse, it was stolen? I may have found a great solution to ease your woes and make you look incredibly cool as you slide you instantly log onto your computer with the swipe of your finger!
Apple announced a redesigned 17-inch MacBook Pro at MacWorld, featuring its relatively new unibody design that's used in the rest of the Apple notebook lineup. The base configuration comes with 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, NVIDIA 9400M and 9600M graphics.
I am currently at Macworld and have been since the keynote. One of the questions asked frequently by those who are not attending is "So, how is it compared to p...
One of my favorite chat and VoIP services Skype announced their new release for the Mac. The Skype 2.8 beta should be available by the time this article is posted and features a couple significant upgrades. Watch the video for more.
For over 20 years Apple fanboys and enthusiasts have congregated to an annual event known as Macworld Expo. As a lover of Apple products myself, I have attended the expo the last two years and will be sharing my experience at Macworld 2009 here at Notebooks.com. You may have heard that Apple recently announced that Macworld Expo 2009 would be their last. Apple does not organize the event so this does not mean it will be canceled, but without them does that mean that expo is done for? Will fanboys weep in the streets the first full week of January each year? Not anytime soon.
Apple's cutting back on trade shows and sent out a terse email saying Macworld 2009 would be its last and that Philip Schiller, an Apple senior VP, will stand in for Steve Jobs to deliver the keynote. Apple announced the MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air at recent MacWorlds, but the company says it's reaching customers enough with its retail stores and Web site.
I'm enjoying my new unibody MacBook Pro, but not having a docking solution is a real pain. Things are really crowded since all of the ports are on the left side of the new MacBook Pro and while this notebook is uber stylish on its own, things can get ugly once you plug in your peripherals.
A recent Simpsons episode makes fun of Apple stores, the company's employees and fanatical customers. I've had some very pleasant experiences at Apple stores, but anyone that's spent any amount of time in one can probably relate at least one of the characters in this episode to one of the real-life Apple store inhabitants.
There are about 10,300 retail outlets where you can buy Apple computers, but Steve Jobs really wants you to visit one of the company's 250 stores to receive a superior experience.
Jobs has admitted that he conceived the companies chain of retail stores because authorized resellers weren't presenting his well-designed products with the proper level of flair and customer support. The first store opened in May 2001, and now the chain extends across the U.S. and into seven other countries, including a store in Beijing that opened this past summer.
I've had my share of 'bad Apples,' but none was nearly as bad as the MacBook Pro I bought four months ago. As I wrote back in March, Apple products have something against me- maybe because they have to share my attention and desk-space with numerous PC notebooks. That's why I wasn't completely surprised when my MacBook Pro's display did a great Zebra impersonation today. I was completely surprised by the treatment I got at the Apple Store and had one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a long time.
