Staples is selling the Compaq Presario C712US for $349.98 on Black Friday. The C712US will be discounted by $400 for the post-Thanksgiving Day sale. 
Circuit City will sell the HP Pavilion dv6439nr notebook for $549.99 on Black Friday, after a $150 rebate. Normally priced at $899, this AMD powered notebook is more expensive than the cheapest Black Friday laptops, but the dv6439nr does have 2GB of memory and a webcam. 
Dell's introduced the Precision M2300 notebook, the company's first 14-inch widescreen workstation. It's is a professional-grade notebook with fast components, including an optional solid state drive. Designed for balanced mobility, the 14-inch form factor is great for professionals who need power in a small package. 
Best Buy is discounting the Toshiba Satellite P205-S7402 by $200 on Black Friday. This 17-inch notebook is the only Black Friday one we've found so far that includes a HD DVD drive.

Some of those smart kids from MIT have customized a stationary bike to recharge a notebook with human power. Looks like a good way to burn some extra calories for those of us who spend 8+ hours a day sitting in front of a computer. The One Laptop Per Child Foundation kicked off mass production of its long-awaited XO laptops today. The Quanta Computer manufacturing plant in will produce 15,000 XO laptops per week. This photo shows the first XO laptop to roll off the production line. 
The Open Handset Alliance, a group of 34 technology companies, hopes to spur wireless innovation and offer a better mobile experience at affordable prices. On a conference call ths morning, Google stressed that it is not announcing the 'gPhone,' but instead hopes thousands of different devices will be available with this Google-centric OS.

Micorosft sure doesn't tell us much about the new Zune 2 one of its new TV ads. Instead, the company just shows an actress taking an Alice in Wonderland-esque trip where she dances with pink rabbits and swims with a giant jelly fish will. I'm glad Microsoft's putting some marketing muscle behind the Zune 2, but this TV ad really misses the mark.
