Blue Label Toshiba E205 with Wireless Display Hands On (Video)

The first thing that strikes you when you take a look at the Toshiba e205 notebook, which is part of Best Buy’s Blue Label notebook selection, is wow that thin. This is an even bigger surprise when you consider that the notebook is an unmistakable deep metallic blue, powered by an Intel Core i5 processor AND has Intel’s WiDI wireless display technology built right in. Did I also mention that the Satellite e205 also has a backlit keyboard?

This first impression will change when you actually look at the device next to another 14″ consumer notebook as you’ll quickly discover that the notebook isn’t that thin, it just looks thin thanks to the angled edges.

As part of the Best Buy Blue label notebook offering the notebook includes a NetGear Push2TV adapter to connect to your HDTV so that you can show whatever’s on your notebook’s screen on the big screen in your living room along with audio. The other notebooks, which include this technology and a standard 2 year warranty, are the 13.3″ Sony Vaio VPCS111FM/S and the 15.6″ Dell Studio S15Z.

As I mentioned in the video, the keyboard is OK, though it could benefit from better placement of the media keys which sit to the right of the device. The machine runs a little warm, but not hot in our mild use so far. We will be giving the e205 more attention and posting a full review in the near future that further explores the Intel Wireless Display technology.
