I've got a confession. A little over a month after I swore off netbooks for one computer, my MacBook Pro, I found a rare deal that couldn't be passed.

The rubberized Samsung Go Netbook first caught my attention when it was released in Europe and the unique form factor still has my attention now that it has hit the American shores. While other netbooks and small notebooks attempt to be the next cheap Macbook Air; the Samsung Go is decidedly different and that plays into its favor. Brad Linder at Liliputing recently had the opportunity to review the Samsung Go and has provided a full report on the pros and cons of Samsung's design choices.
Last Friday's rumor of a Nokia Netbook was confirmed in short order by a press release on Nokia's website announcing the Nokia Booklet 3G. The Nokia Booklet 3G will feature a 10" screen, a Windows OS and claims a 12 hour battery life that will convince you to leave your power cord at home.
The India Times reports that mobile phone manufacturer Nokia is actively monitoring the netbook market and that it may enter the mobile computing space in the future. Speaking with the Times, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, the Global CEO of Nokia said, "...the PC and the mobile will continue to come closer and merge. A lot of opportunity can be seen in this converged area." While Nokia has made news recently for it's N97 and N97 mini phones (which the company calls mobile computers, Nokia isn't a well known computer manufacturer.

I used to take great pride in all the work I put into customizing Firefox on my netbook. I had installed several extensions, even diving into the source to make an old favorite compatible, all for a few extra pixels. After all of this work, I loved showing off my netbook optimized installation of Firefox to other netbook users but this always led to a lengthy customization process on their netbooks. Now, thanks to the Meerkat Firefox Extension, optimizing your netbook for the web only takes 30 seconds.
When I told my wife I was going to sell every computer I own and purchase a Apple MacBook Pro so that I could simplify my life, I thought she'd say no. She did...

LaptopMag.com did a full review of the new Mini 110 and found that HP seems to have addressed some of the issues lacking in the Mini 1000 but not without compromise. The Mini 110 has a VGA port, matte antiglare screen, and three USB ports. But it's slightly thicker and heavier than HP's first consumer netbook.
Acer updated its Aspire One line with the AOD150 not too long ago and now laptopmag.com has just reviewed the updated AOD250 we covered last week. The specs are pretty much standard run of the mill for netbooks but the AOD250 comes in at 0.3 inches thinner and over half a pound lighter than the AOD150. Unfortunately, the only thing that has really changed from the AOD150 to the AOD250 is the physical size and weight of the device. The AOD250 still uses Intel's Atom N270 processor while its competitors have started to switch to the nominally faster N280 processor. Pricing is a definite strong point for the AOD250, starting with a $289 buy-in price for a 3-cell battery unit. 6-cell battery units cost $349 and offers roughly double the battery life (almost 6 hours run time). Check out the laptopmag.com review here.
