USPS Loses Five Insured ThinkPads, Compensates Owner w/$74
You might want to avoid shipping notebooks via USPS after reading a story over at the Consumerist. A USPS customer shipped his friend five notebooks and insured them for $3,000. The package never showed up across the country, so he filed an insurance claim. The USPS gave the customer $74 for the lost ThinkPads.
Nobody knows what happened to the package and USPS’s tracking system shows that it never even left the Florida shipping center.
There are several other USPS customers complaining of similar treatment in the comments section on the blog post.

IM so sorry, that is frustrating =) but it normally (98% of the time) takes 2 days. In 35 years of mailing items (alot of items) I have only had the postal service mess up twice, but it was quickly resolved. Now the ups or “Brown”… I have only used them about 15 times and 3 times they have delivered my package either torn open or at a different address the other 12 were ok( which I did finally receive through my own doing) MY point>>>> As far as my experiance only… the USPS has been a better and safer choice for me.

Why would you spend 3K on 5 notebooks and send them Parcel post? That in itself sounds like fraud. I hope not , and I hope you have proof of your purchase and shipping that purchase…because you can do alot of federal time for trying to fraud the federal gov. Your in the big leagues… this is not like returning a shirt you bought from target to walmart… Just trying to warn you not degrade you.
To my sister, quit coping some of my text =) love ya
