GoMobi Helps Small Businesses Create Mobile Websites

More and more small businesses are getting their name out on the web in the form of their own website. Many small businesses now have a web presence, but not nearly as many offer a presence tailored specifically for mobile devices. GoMobi is addressing this shortcoming with a setup assistant, as well as hosting deals, to help any small business set up a mobile version of their website with ease.

Setting up a basic website can be hard enough as it is for small businesses because they tend not to have the time, resources, or know-how to get a website up and running, while keeping the information current. Many small businesses resort to hiring a 3rd party web designer to manage the website and keep things current. All of that is fine and dandy, but today’s web presence is no longer stationary.

Mobile web browsing has increased significantly, and continues to be on the rise. For example, Erick Schonfeld at TechCrunch reported that the mobile U.S. Open Golf website saw a 518% increase in traffic compared to last year. However, its normal website only saw an 8% increase compared to last year. Mobile web browsing needs to be targeted by small businesses.

Despite the sheer number of people who are using mobile web browsers, why does a business actually need a mobile version of their website? With devices, such as the Apple and Android devices, that have a full web browser capable of viewing any website, it seems like an unneeded luxury to have a mobile version of a website. However, as most people using a mobile web browser will tell you, it is annoying trying to navigate a non-mobile website. A browser is forced to constantly zoom in and out in order to select menus and see the content. Also, regular websites tend to load a lot slower than mobile ones. Finally, Apple’s mobile devices cannot view flash content. This makes much of the content of many of today’s conventional websites unavailable to iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad users.

GoMobi offers an easy solution for mobile web versions of websites. Currently the only registrar that is offering a GoMobi option is name.com. However, other registrars will be offering a GoMobi option soon. Name.com is offering their mobile hosting plan for $50 a year or $6 a month.
