Black Friday: Gateway LT2016u Netbook for $29.99 at Verizon

In addition to numerous smartphone offers Verizon has one of the first subsidized netbook deals that is actually a good deal. Information Week reports that on Black Friday Verizon will sell the Gateway LT2016u netbook for $29.99 (after a $100 MIR) with a 2 year agreement.

The Gateway LT netbook has a 10.1″ screen, Intel Atom N270 processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 160 GB hard drive and ships with Windows XP.

Like all subsidized netbooks you should factor in the long term cost of the data plan, in this case $60 a month for 5GB of data, into your purchase decision. If you are just looking for a cheap netbook you will find a much better deal on a netbook you purchase outright from one of the many Black Friday deals we have listed on

That said if you plan to use the integrated mobile broadband connection and understand that netbooks are best used for web browsing, email and basic document editing; then you may be able to score a good deal on Black Friday.

Verizon is also selling the Mifi adapter which provides a personal hotspot for $49.99 (after a $50 MIR) with a 2 year contract. As someone who has multiple devices I consider this a better deal than the $29 netbook because I can use it with any notebook I have or will get.
