Joanna Stern Goes Hands-on with MSI X400 and X600
Laptop Mag's Joanna Stern gets some one on one time with the MSI X-series family and shows us a brief overview of the expanded lineup that includes the X340 we've already seen along with the yet to be released X400 and X600. The X400 sports a larger 14" screen and the X600 displays 16" of screen real estate. The X-series will all come with Intel's new ULV Core 2 Solo processors and the X600 will come with an ATI 430 discrete graphics cards.
Dell Releases Studio 14z Geared Towards Students
Dell announced the availability of the Studio 14z notebook aimed at providing students with a highly desirable notebook. Following industry trends, the Studio 14z is the thinnest and lightest Studio notebook to date. It features Intel's latest Core 2 Duo processors, up to 5GB of RAM, 500GB HDD, a 720p or 900p 14"HD screen, and a 6-cell battery (with an 8-cell option). Acknowledging the next generation of students' penchant for media consumption, the 14z also comes with an NVIDIA GeForce 9400 integrated graphics processor that is claimed to outperform many entry-level discrete graphics cards and 4-watt SRS 2.0 integrated speakers with separate tweeters. A 1.3MP webcam is also integrated with dual array microphones. Prices start at $649 and is available for purchase now.
HP ProBook Notebooks Introduced (video)
HP introduced a new line of affordable notebooks aimed at value-concious business users. The HP ProBook series will come in three sizes and start at just $529. I got a chance to sit down with Sarah Bussell, HP's business notebook product manager to take a look at the ProBook lineup and shot a quick video.
Averatec N2700: Bloatware-Free 12″ Notebook
The Averatec N2700 ultraportable notebook is light in terms of weight and bloatware. Citing customer's request for notebooks without 'try-and-buy' software add-ons, Averatec's N2700 is 'back-to-the-basics.' 
HP Pavilion dv2 Game Demo: Call of Duty World at War
The HP Pavilion dv2 is an ultraportable notebook that's affordable, but has enough graphics muscle that users can enjoy video games and play Blu-ray discs. After toning done the graphics setting, I played Call of Duty Word: World at War at over 30 frames per second and recorded the below video clips. 
Acer Aspire Timeline Notebooks Introduced
Acer announced the stylish Aspire Timeline notebook series today. The new line of Acer Aspire notebooks are designed to be power efficient and offer up to eight hours of battery life in a thin and light package. The series consists of a 13.3", 14" and 15.6" notebooks, which share many of the same features.
