Freescale and Pegatron are ushering a new generation of netbooks that will combine excellent battery life, good looks and low cost. The two partners are hoping to bring the ARM-based netbook to market within the next few months under the flagship of a major OEM at a retail price of $199 to $299. 
Novatell Wireless Intros MiFi Mobile Hotspot (video @ CES 2009)
Mike Kelly showed me the Novatell Wireless MiFi Mobile Hotspot, a 3G router that plays double duty as a WiFi router. It supports up to five WiFi devices at once and will be available via major wireless carriers in a few months. It will cost $200 before carrier subsidies.
Apple Intros Unibody 17-inch MacBook Pro, No Removeable Battery
Apple announced a redesigned 17-inch MacBook Pro at MacWorld, featuring its relatively new unibody design that's used in the rest of the Apple notebook lineup. The base configuration comes with 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, NVIDIA 9400M and 9600M graphics.
