Apple released a new 'Get a Mac' ad that portrays a woman shopping for a computer. As she states her requirements, several dull PC guys are dismissed while the Mac guy smirks. All of the PCs walk away when she states she wants a computer that doesn't have a ton of headaches, leaving her with the Mac guy.
Microsoft's laptop 'Laptop Hunters' commercial follows Sheila as she searches for an upscale notebook for video editing. I generally like Microsoft's current a...
The Mac vs. PC argument is being stoked by Microsoft's "Laptop Hunters" commercials and a fresh round of Apple's "Get a Mac Ads." Fanboys on both side of the debate are making their cases, but Jim Goldman, CNBC's silicon valley bureau chief, made some of the most ridiculous pro-Mac arguments I've ever heard on TV.
As someone who's switched from PC to Mac, I think the new Microsoft 'Laptop Hunters' commercials are getting too much attention and don't reflect how consumers...
Microsoft's new Laptop Hunters ad follows a mother and son who are shopping for an entertainment notebook that costs $1,500 or less. The pair settle on a Sony VAIO FW series notebook after 11-year old Jackson observes that MacBooks are "way more money dude..."
Microsoft's kicked off an advertising campaign that stresses value. They've recorded a series of videos that show notebook buyers shopping for notebooks that meets their requirements for under $1,000. The campaign takes swipes at Apple MacBooks for being too expensive and offer PC brands as more affordable.

Last night I went photowalking with a bunch of techies and photographers in my home town of San Francisco. It was sponsored by EyeFi and Microsoft and you can check out the group's photos on Flickr.
To kick off the holiday shopping season Microsoft's Live.com offered customers 40% off HP products on Black Friday. Unfortunately, most Black Friday shoppers who tried to take advantage of the deal were faced with failed Microsoft servers and various tracking issues that prevented them from actually receiving the 40% credit. The fun's not over yet though.
Microsoft announced it would lay off 5,000 employees and slash its marketing budgets. The company is blaming a $465 million decrease in Windows OEM revenue on netbooks.
With only days left until the we go to the polls the mud slinging between Barack Obama and John McCain has gotten quite hot and heavy. Personally I think things seem much more distasteful and desperate from one side of the fence than the other, but thats not for this discussion. One thing is for sure, when politicians get nasty with each other they run the risk of turning away even their own supporters if they cross the line.
Threre's nothing less appealing to me than boy bands, but if you like computers, Microsoft AND boy bands, we've got a video for you. Test version of Windows 7, Microsoft's next-generation operating system, will be given to developers at a Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference 2008. And of course that calls for some merciless marketing to put this together....
Microsoft's published several videos and results from its Mojave Experiment to 'prove' that Vista's a lot better than the general public perceives it to be.
HP consumer notebooks in North America will ship with a Microsoft Live Search toolbar starting in January 2009, replacing the Yahoo! search bar. This is a huge win for Microsoft as Microsoft Live Search will be the default search engine.
What do you do after spending three decades building one of the biggest tech companies in the world and earning billions? Bill Gates and company showed a brief film during his CES keynote that shows how he spent his last full day at Microsoft and his quest for a new gig.
Here's a Microsoft Zune commercial that makes me want to never buy a Zune. The entire comercial is made up of two cobras in a desert fighting over an ice cream cone...really that's it. No Zune, no features, nothing. Just snakes licking an ice cream cone....mmmmm maybe the new Zunes taste good.
The new Zune ads have generally avoided showing off features, instead showing people in a daydream-state, parading around with giant jelly fish and dancing bunnies.
Microsoft will start taking orders for the Zune 2 tomorrow and is offering some pretty cool customization options. Those who buy direct from Microsoft's Zune Originals store will be able to chose from laser-engraved designs, tattoos and personalized messages.
Micorosft sure doesn't tell us much about the new Zune 2 one of its new TV ads. Instead, the company just shows an actress taking an Alice in Wonderland-esque trip where she dances with pink rabbits and swims with a giant jelly fish will. I'm glad Microsoft's putting some marketing muscle behind the Zune 2, but this TV ad really misses the mark.
Microsoft officially announced three new Zunes, including the 80GB Zune ($249), 4GB flash Zune ($149) and 8GB flash Zune ($199). The flash Zunes are available in pink, green, black and red. All of the new zunes have a touch-sensitive navigation button and play video.
