If you like to carry your storage on your keychain and are a fan of the iconic Swiss Army pocketknives made by Victorinox, you may be interested in the new Victorinox Slim flash drive that hides inside a Swiss Army frame.

Victorinox Slim USB Drive Review

The Victorinox flash drives come in numerous configurations with knives, tools, computer remote controls, laser pointers and pretty much any thing you would expect from a Swiss Army knife that is also a flash drive. Unfortunately, there are too many places you can’t take a Swiss Army knife these days which is why Victorinox makes the Victoronix Slim, a flash drive only Swiss Army looking thumb drive that can hold up to 128GB in the Slim Duo configuration.

We’ve been using the 32GB Victorinox Slim Flash drive since CES to keep some larger documents on and to transfer files from computer to computer when we needed to move faster than the available network could perform.

Victorinox Slim USB Drive

While the combination of Dropbox, SugarSync and a NAS have pretty much handled our needs for portable and accessible storage it’s hard to deny the appeal of a Victorinox flash drive. If you’re anything like me the Swiss Army logo will take you back to the day you got your first Swiss Army knife and set off to cut and disassemble anything in sight. The Victorinox Slim won’t help you take apart your notebook, but the Victorinox Flash Laser would let you back up your hard drive, take the screws out of your notebook and install a new hard drive with no further tools.

The Victorinox Slim flash drive includes software that can sync information to your computer and keep your data secure. Software functions include;

  • Automatic Back-up Function
  • Zero-Footprint capability to ensure anonymity while web surfing
  • Bookmarks and Favorites Manager
  • Synchronize your documents and folders between more than one computer
  • Synchronize Office Outlook or Outlook Express files
  • Password Manager

Unfortunately you will pay for the nostalgic feelings. The Swiss Army flash drive we have in for review [amazon_link id=”B004OXOAE6″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]retails for around $150[/amazon_link]. That’s about $100 over the going price for a generic 32GB USB drive. As much as we love the Swiss Army brand we don’t see ourselves paying this much for the Victorinox Slim. We do think the other drives like the [amazon_link id=”B003FV75L8″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Presentation Master[/amazon_link] or [amazon_link id=”B003FVEPTI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Victorinox Secure[/amazon_link], both of which come with tools, would be worth looking at since they include additional tools that are more like the Swiss Army experience you know.

Bottom Line: If you have money to spend or love the Swiss Army brand, pick up this drive, otherwise you’ll get a better value for storage by looking elsewhere.
