Nook Versus iPad: Reading Experience

When you’re looking for an ebook reader there are many options including the Nook, Nook Color, Kindle, iPad and more. In this short video feature we will give you a look at how the Nook Color compares to the iPad for reading books. On the iPad we will look at the Nook app and the Kindle app for iPad which we currently think offers the best reading experience on Apple’s tablet.

It’s a little hard to see in the video below, but the Nook Color’s screen is pretty impressive with a wide level of brightness settings and very sharp text. In my limited use I am actually a bit more taken by the smaller form factor and nice screen than I am of the iPad.

In terms of a reading experience on the Nook Color or on the iPad most of the time it will come down to a simple user preference so we encourage you to go get your hands on the eBook readers on your own. Best Buy is a great location to do this as many stores have a Kindle, Nook, Nook Color and iPad as well as a few other devices.

If we had to choose only one device to have with us on a trip, like say to CES 2011, we’d still go with the iPad for the extras that it has but with a rooted Nook Color that might not be the choice we make next time we fly.
