Mac App Store Launching on December 13th According to Appletell

The Mac App Store, a digital storefront similar to the App store iPhone and iPad users have come to love, is reportedly set to launch on December 13th, ahead of the initial launch date of early in 2011. The news comes from Appletell which cites sources who tell them that Apple and Steve Jobs had wanted to launch today December 6th.

If the sources are correct it could lead to a very merry Christmas for developers who can likely expect to see many new Mac owners flocking to a familiar App store to stock up on software.

The Mac App store made news last week for telling developers they won’t be able to offer beta software, apps that aren’t completely finished, in the Mac App store. Instead those developers will need to offer those early releases on their website and a finished product in the app store.
