Black Friday: Nikon D3000x for $499.98 at Best Buy

Best Buy will be selling the Nikon D3000x for $499.98 on Black Friday, about a $50 discount off the normal $549.99 price tag. The Nikon D3000x (also marketed as the Nikon D3000) is an entry-level consumer DSLR. The $499.98 kit will come with an 18-55mm zoom lens. Additionally, Best Buy will sell a Nikon D3000x kit with both an 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm zoon lens for $629.99.

The more expensive Nikon D3000x will also come with a 54″ tripod, carrying bag and 8GB SanDisk SDHC memory card on Black Friday. Unfortunately, the more expensive bundle isn’t much of a bargain considering Best Buy sells a similar kit any day of the week for $599.99, less the tripod, bag and memory card. It’s up to you to decide if the accessories are worth the extra $30.

The Nikon D3000x is a decent starter DSLR for aspiring photographers or for those looking to go a step beyond point and shoot cameras. With interchangeable lenses and manual controls, photographers can produce much better photos than with standard point and shoot cameras. The Nikon D3000x does not however have all of the bells and whistles of more expensive Nikon and Canon DSLRs. If you’re buying a gift for someone who’s very serious about photography, this might not be the right camera.

The Nilon D3000x has a 10-mexapixel sensor, which might sound small at first glance, but it’s more than sufficient to create large prints. There are a lot more important things when choosing a DSLR than the megapixel count, a game that manufacturers often play to differentiate lower-end cameras from each other.
