MacBook Pro Refreshed With New 2.8GHz Processor

Apple announced a new MacBook today – the MacBook Air. But it wasn’t the only refresh. Apple didn’t make a big deal about it, but the MacBook Pro which is now available with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 processor for $400 over the base price.

Apple has begun to quietly release new updates without fanfare and little notice behind the exciting news of other new releases. Previously they have updated the MacBook Pro, the Mac Mini and others with nothing more than links in their online store.

The new processor will be available on the 15-inch and 17-inch models. Previously only a 2.66GHz processor was available and it cost an extra $200. Engadget is guessing that it is the Core i7-640M which was released just last month by Intel. They say it can burst all the way up to 3.4GHz when needed.
