White iPhone 4 Delayed Yet Again

Apple’s white iPhone 4 has been delayed a second time, moving the ship date to “later this year”.

When Steve Jobs announced the iPhone 4 at the Apple WWDC 2010 Keynote, the device was supposed to be available in either black or white. However, the white version has been delayed multiple times, with no definite reason as to why. Some speculated case discoloration issues, while others pointed to Chinese touchscreen glass manufacturer, Lens Technology.

Apple’s statement on the further delay of the white iPhone 4 is almost identical to the company’s previous statement made just a month ago.

White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.

So, if you were holding out to be one of the first to wield the white version of the iPhone 4, you may want to consider settling for the common black iPhone 4. However, if you have the extra cash, there are other options.
