Lenovo Adding an AMD processor to the IdeaPad Z565

Lenovo has done well with their computers featuring AMD processors. Because of this Lenovo has announced that they will be expanding their AMD processor usage. To kick this off, they are adding an AMD processor to the Lenovo IdeaPad Z565.

The 15.6-inch IdeaPad Z565, brother to the Intel equipped Z560, will feature either an AMD dual-core Turion or triple-core Phenom processor. There will also be an option between integrated graphics, using AMD’s ATI Mobility Radeon 4270 graphics chip, or the discrete graphics, using the Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graphics chip with 512MB of VRAM. The discrete graphics option will cater to those who require higher frame rates, mostly for HD multimedia, and video games. However, the discrete graphics chip is only available with the less powerful, dual-core Turion processor. The IdeaPad Z565 will reportedly see 3.5 to 4 hours of battery life, depending on the graphics chip.

There is currently no word on pricing or availability. Although similar Z-series IdeaPads began shipping towards the end of May, so this model may be shipping very soon.
