YUBZ Retro Headset Review

If you find yourself talking for extended periods on the cell phone or on a VOIP call, you may get sick of the form factor of most cell phones and standard USB headsets. While a cell phone is great to carry around and a headset can stay on for log periods without being uncomfortable, neither compare to the good old-fashioned phone receiver you may have used growing up. The YUBZ, Why You Busy, Retro Handset is an accessory that works with cell phones and thanks to a USB adapter Skype and VOIP calls.
The YUBZ Retro Handset is $45 and comes with adapters for numerous phones including the Motorola Droid which I tested it on. YUBZ also provided us with the YUBZ Jack, a $30 USB adapter to plug the Retro Handset into your computer. If you don’t want to be able to use the handset with a mobile phone, YUBZ sells the YUBZ Talk Online for $80 which has a USB adapter on the end.

YUBZ Retro Handset Video Review:

To summarize the video review, the Retro Handset is lightweight, though I wouldn’t personally carry it around with me. It is an interesting addition to your desk or home and is sure to start some conversations in person as well as on the phone. When talking to users they did report that I sounded a little distant, but that it was an OK quality for the conversation. I found that if I cupped the ear portion of the phone too tightly to my head it dampened the outside noise in a manner that made myself sound a bit odd, but this would be handy in noisy offices or if you use the YUBZ Retro Handset on the go.

If you are looking for a more comfortable way to talk on your cell phone or computer the YUBZ Retro Handset is a good solution, though it would be an easier recommendation at $30 by itself or at $60 with the USB Jack. If you are concerned about cell phone radiation, the handset gives you a fun way to keep your cellphone away from your head.
