HP ProBook 6455B: Business Notebook for the Smart Commuter

The HP ProBook 6455B business notebook is part of the HP ProBook B series spring refresh which brings many new features to make it more user friendly; billing the ProBook 6455B as a “Smart Commuter” notebook. Essentially, HP is working to make our business lives on a notebook as easy as working on our home PCs.

This new notebook is powered by AMD processors and the new AMD VISION technology. The HP ProBook 6455B will ship with a choice of the new AMD processors (Phenom II Quad,Triple, or Dual Core, a Turion Dual Core or Athlon Dual Core) and come with UMA graphics support.

It also has a 14.0-inch diagonal 16:9 HD LED-backlit display which is great for watching and creating video presentations, as well as viewing photos, etc.  The notebook is also relatively lightweight, weighing in at 5 pounds. While it’s not an ultra-portable, it is light enough to carry to and from work without breaking your back.

Like its ProBook B series counterparts, HP also includes some of of its HP Professional Innovations software.  This software includes: HP Protect Tools (for security), HP QuickLook to provide off-line read and write capability of e-mail, calendar, task and contact information at the touch of a button, without having to boot up the notebook and HP QuickWeb for quick access to the web.  All businessmen have to do is load up Skype (included) and they are ready to do international deals from their commuter notebook.

One of the bigger features with this new series is the new HP DuraFinish structure.  Thia magnesium alloy structure was announced at CES 2010 and provides a sturdy base for the ProBook B series notebooks and adds to the overall durability and longevity of the notebook. The HP Probook 6455B also features HP 3D Driveguard to protect the hard drive from falls and a spill resistant keyboard that will protect the computer from small spills. Finally, there is the HP Power Assistant tool which allows business users and IT departments to conserve power and stretch battery run-time.

With all of these powerful features, the ProBook 6455B looks to be a solid business notebook for a consultant on the run.
