Intel Atom N455 CPU arrives in Netbooks bringing DDR3 RAM Support

Another new Intel processor is making its way into netbooks, but this time it’s a minor update to the popular Intel Atom N450 and N470 processors. The new Intel Atom N455 and N475 processors don’t bring drastic changes to the Atom line, but do offer support for faster DDR3 memory.

The new processors, specifically the N455, are already finding their way into new netbooks. Toshiba has announced that the NB305 will be its first netbook to make use of the new processor and brings along most of the old specs such as a 10 inch screen and 160GB hard drive.

The HP Mini 210 will also be getting an N455 processor soon according to an Amazon listing in Germany. It is expected to come with 1GB DDR3, a 250GB hard drive and Windows 7 Starter.

No release dates have been given, but it is likely that these changes will soon be making their way to the hands of consumers early this summer. More on the new Intel Atom N455 and N475 processors is available at Liliputing.
