Kingston announces first 256GB flash drive for the US

Today in a press release Kingston announced the first 256GB flash drive to ship in the US. This new flashdrive from Kingston will replace the Kingston 300, a 256GB flashdrive sold in Asia, Europe and other regions, and will be called the ‘DataTraveler 310′.

We saw an opportunity to push the capacity envelope for USB Flash drives in the marketplace. Customer feedback and our research determined that this is a great solution for designers, engineers and architects who have a need to easily store and transport large data files,” said Andrew Ewing, USB business manager, Kingston®. For the enthusiast who wants easy access to their full media library, the DataTraveler 310 can store up to 365 CDs, 54 DVDs or 51,000 images*. This device makes an entire collection of data easily portable.”

Kingston’s DataTraveler 310 has data transfer rates of 25MB/Sec read and 12MB/Sec write speed and includes Password traveler Software which allows the user to create and access a password-protected privacy zone. To create password protected privacy zone you don’t need to have administrator rights on your pc and it will allow up to 90% of storage area to be used as password protected storage.

Kingston ‘s Data Traveler 310 can store up to 51,000 standard JPEG at 10MP or 365 CDs or 54 DVDs at one time. This DataTraveler 310 is priced at $1,108 for US markets. DataTraveler is available only in 256GB hard drive and comes with five-year warranty and 24×7 support.
