HP Introduces ProBook 6445b and ProBook 6545b (video)

HP introduced two new affordable business notebooks today. The ProBook 6445b and ProBook 6545b offer a lot of the durability and management features found in more expensive business systems at a reduced cost.

The two notebooks are pretty similar except that the 6445b has a 14″ display and the 6545b has a 15″ display. They can be configured with up to 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and a Blu-ray Disc drive.

The new ProBooks have new AMD processors that are more efficient than those found on previous HP Probook b-series notebooks. The company claims battery life has improved by 60 percent for up to 8 hours and 15 minutes of use on a single charge.

Here’s an HP video that highlights the benefits of the b-series ProBooks.

HP’s Jeremy Brody showed me the two new notebooks at a recent meeting. They are the first HP notebooks that have drain holes to protect against spills.

The new b-series ProBooks will be available when Windows 7 launches on October 22. They will be available at HP’s online store and resellers for $799 and up.
