Toshiba’s relaunching the Satellite Pro line with the introduction of the A200 and A210. The Toshiba Tecra and Portege lines are the real deal for pros, but the Satellite Pro line is worth a look if you’re on a tight budget.
The Satellite Pro A200 is based on Intel Centrino Duo technology. The Satellite Pro A210 is based on AMD’s ‘Better by Design’ initiative.
Priced between $699 and $999, the A200 and A210 are nearly identical to the Satellite A200 and A210. There are more color choices with the non-pro Satellites and users can completely customize them with multimedia options. What sets the Pro Satellite apart is its pared-down software. The Pro versions come with Windows XP and no demo software. This is very similar to what Dell’s doing with its Inspiron (home) and Vostro (small business) lines.
The Satellite Pro A200-EZ2204X is one configuration with nice specs at a reasonable price. Priced at $999, A200-EZ2204X comes with a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 120GB hard drive, 1GB of memory and a DVD burner.
The Satellite ProA210-EZ2203X is only $899, and comes with a 2.0GHZ dual-core AMD Turion Mobile processor, 2GB of memory, 120GB hard drive and DVD burner.
