Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks (video, review & demo)

Logitech just unleashed its latest webcams, including the QuickCam Pro for Notebooks. The new QuickCam is capable of recording high-def (720P) video and has several premium features, that make it an excellent deal at $99.

Images are very sharp and clear, and Logitech’s software is fun and easy to use. I sat down with Stan Kwong of Logitech for a demo and was very impressed with what he showed me.

The most important part of any camera is the lens and webcams are no exception. Logitech’s teamed up with Carl Zeiss to deliver a glass lens, capable of delivering 2MP images and 1.3 megapixel video. Users can record high-def video for computer playback or capture 8MP (interpolated) still images. The photo of the crayons below is an example of the potential of this camera.

The Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks comes with a carrying case and headset so you can keep your video chats private when you’re out and about. There’s also a stand to elevate the camera to face level and so users have more flexibility in where they position the camera.

There are lots of fun things you can do with Fun Filters and Avatars (see video above), but one of the best features is RightLight. Logitech’s RightLight technology improves image quality in low-light environments or when there’s strong backlighting. This is something that built-in webcams don’t have and one reason to take a look at this camera even if you already have a buil-in webcam on your notebook.

Logitech packs a lot of features, accessories and quality into this package. The QuickCam Pro for Notebooks will retail for $99 at most major electronics retailers.
