The One Laptop Per Child project deployed dozens of its computers at a school in Nigeria. ZDNet has a great photo gallery of the students unboxing their laptops in a tiny schoolhouse where supplies and resources are short. The project aims to bridge the digital divide and provide the necessary learning tools for teachers and students.
Khaled Hassounah, director of Nicholas Negroponte’s One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) program in Africa and the Middle East, has spent the last year touring schools in Nigeria. He and his team chose a school 10 miles outside Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, to deploy the company’s first child-friendly laptops in the region.
