Lenovo Recalls 500,000 Sony Batteries

Half a million Sony batteries are being recalled after a Lenovo notebook flamed up at an airport last week. Like Dell and Apple, Lenovo has set up a replacement program for those at risk. The following models sold since Feb. 2005 are subject to the recall.

  • ThinkPad R Series (R51e, R52, R60, R60e)
  • ThinkPad T Series (T43, T43p, T60)
  • ThinkPad X Series (X60, X60s)

Lenovo has set up an automatic utility that will run and check if your battery is bad. While there is a very slight chance your particular notebook will spontaneously combust, it’s better safe than sorry.
