Lenovo officially introduced the ThinkPad X200 today, but was kind enough to send me an early review unit last week. The X200 is Lenovo's new 12-inch business notebook and it's been a joy to use for the past few days. The X200 has a starting price of just $1,199, making it an excellent value for anyone who needs a fully-capable notebook that can get them through a full work day.
VIA's Tim Brown opens up an OpneBook and shows us the guts of this 8.9-inch mini notebook reference design. The OpenBook has two PCI Express Mini Card slots with 52 pin edge connectors that enable the WiMAX, HSDPA, EV-DO, W-CDMA, WiFi, Blue Tooth and AGPS connectivity.
ASUS showed off the Eee PC 901, 1000 and 1000 (H) models today at Computex 2008 in Taipei. The new Eee PCs are more robust and expensive than earlier versions. The low-cost ultraportable market is really heating up and ASUS isn't standing still.
The MacBook Air's stirred up some interesting discussion about what's expected of an ultraportable notebook. Lenovo's answer is the ThinkPad X300 series, which features a 64GB solid state drive, three USB ports, a DVD burner. Not bad for a 2.5 pound package.
