This powerful computer should handle the needs of most home users, even those who want to multitask and do very intensive computer, though it isn’t designed with gaming in mind.

The Losers:

Both the Sony VAIO E Series (VPCEE26FX/BI) and the VAIO E Series Laptop (VPCEE26FX/WI) aren’t worth the price for what you’re getting. With just an AMD Dual Core processor, these would be a better deal under $500, or even under $400 on Black Friday.

After carefully looking at the specs and power of each Black Friday Laptop under $600 we’ve chosen the HP dm4-1160us as the best Black Friday deal for under $600. This 14″ notebook comes packed with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM and a 500GB hard drive. It also has an metal finish that makes it more durable than most notebooks in this price range, especially on Black Friday.

The Loser:

As far as bad Black Friday deals go in the $600 laptop range, we have to pick the Dell Studio 15 from Costco because it doesn’t offer anything extra over the cheaper notebooks in this price range. If you are already a Costco member and shopping there on Black Friday it’s still an OK deal, but otherwise look at the Dell Inspiron 15R straight from Dell for a bit cheaper or go to OfficeMax for the Toshiba Satellite L655-S5103 that’s only $529.

This notebook is a much better value than the numerous Black Friday Laptops under $300, thanks to a dual core processor, 3GB or RAM and a dedicated GPU.

Best Black Friday Laptop Under $400 Runner Up:

If you can afford to spend $400 on a Black Friday laptop we suggest the HP Pavilion DV5-2134 14.5” Dual Core Laptop from Staples because it has an aluminum shell which you won’t find in almost any other laptop in this price range on Black Friday.

Worst Black Friday Laptop for Under $400:

After looking over all of these Black Friday deals on laptops and netbooks for 2010 we’ve picked the Acer ASPIRE AS5742-7653 from Office Max as the best Black Friday Laptop under $500.

The Best:

We chose the Acer ASPIRE AS5742-7653 because it comes with an incredibly fast Intel Core i5 processor with TurboBoost, 4GB RAM, a large 500GB hard drive and a full complement of ports and items like a webcam and HDMI port this is an incredible deal. This notebook will keep up with the needs of most home users for several years and thanks to the specs, you won’t spend all that time waiting for programs to launch.

Runner Up:

A close runner up for those looking for a larger screen is the HP G72-B66US from Staples which brings a 17.3″ screen an Intel Core i3 processor to the mix for $499. If you can’t snag the Acer from Office Max, Best Buy also has a 15.6″ Black Friday laptop deal on the HP Pavilion DV6-3127dx which comes with an Intel Core i3 processor and is just $499.

In every category there’s a best and a worst. In the case of laptops under $500 the Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5088 is the worst deal for Black Friday 2010 because it doesn’t offer much more than similar models available under $400.

After looking over all of these Black Friday deals on laptops and netbooks for 2010 we’ve picked the Lenovo G550 from Office Depot as the best Black Friday Laptop under $300.

The Lenovo G550 wins out because even the low end Lenovo laptops are known for a decent build quality and for $20 less than the competition you’re getting the same thing. Essentially, in this price range, you could drop down to the Best Black Friday Laptop under $250 to get a similar Black Friday computer.

If you you can manage to spend the extra $50 jump up to the Black Friday Laptops under $400 category which contains the HP G62-340US dual core notebook for $329 from Office Depot.

In this category there isn’t much to separate the winners from the losers, but the value for the HP G56-141us isn’t enough to make it a good buy. Again, you’re better off bumping up to $329 for a dual core machine.

Black Friday: Lenovo G560 15.6″ Laptop for $399.99 at Office Depot

The Office Depot Black Friday ad for 2010 just leaked and it is full of Black Friday laptop deals. On of those deals is the Lenovo G560 model (0679-99U), which is a 15.6” notebook computer with an Intel Pentium Dual-Core P6100 processor. It will be selling on Black Friday at Office Depot for $399.

The Lenov G560 also has 4GB of RAM (expandable to up to 8GB) and a 320GB hard drive.

The Dual-Core processor is running at 2GHz which may sound fast, but this is three or four generation old processor meaning this system is not going to be fast enough for anything other than light duty. Think netbook speed and power in a large case and display without the battery life. That may be a good thing for people with very simple uses or looking for a second system for light surfing/email/document creation.

The graphics processor is an Intel integrated chip, which further supports our contention that this is not intended for hard core computing, like gaming or video work. Casual Internet games and Solitaire or Minesweeper will be fine. But not much more. The resolution is 1366×768 which means that you could watch 720p video from hulu or other online content. DVDs should play adequately too.

The Wi-Fi will support 802.11 a/b/g/n networks. That means there are few Wi-Fi networks this machine can’t handle. The included Webcam is a standard feature on notebooks, but it is nice to know this one has it.

Other ports include two USB 2.0, an eSATA/USB combo port, one wired network Ethernet port and a standard VGA port.

By comparison this same exact computer is selling at Office Depot and Tiger Direct right now for $549.90. So the Black Friday sale will bank you a savings of $150. Not a bad deal if you are looing for something really simple like netbook in a bigger form factor.

Black Friday: Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016 for $499 on Black Friday

Office Depot is offering a $30 discount on the Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016 on Black Friday, dropping its price down to just $499.

The Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016 is a configuration of Toshiba’s larger Satellite entertainment notebook. This laptop comes with a 2.3GHz AMD Turion II dual core processor and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics. This combination should be sufficient for most home users, but it is not powerful enough to play the latest video games at full resolution.

It features a 17.3″ display, which is a good thing for those that like to watch movies or slideshows on their PCs. A big display equates to a big laptop however, so those who plan on bringing their laptop outside very often should avoid this computer. The Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016 weighs in at 6.6 pounds. The display has a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels.

Being an entertainment-focused PC, the Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016 does come equipped with Dolby Advanced Audio, a feature that dramatically improves the audio output quality of music, movies and video games.

The Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016 ships with Windows 7 Home Premium. It comes with 4GB of memory and a 320GB hard drive, which is a bit on the small side for an entertainment notebook these days.

There are cheaper laptops available on Black Friday, but the Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016 may be a good choice if you’re primarily looking for something with a large screen and extra entertainment features. Most of the sub-$400 laptops being sold on Black Friday have smaller screens and lack many of the entertainment features found in the Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016.

Black Friday: HP G62-340US for $329 at Office Depot

Office Depot will be selling a variation of the HP G62 laptop for $329.99 on Black Friday. The HP G62 is will be priced at $379.99, with a $50 mail-in rebate necessary to get the full $220 in savings. The specific model Office Depot will be selling is called the HP G62-340US, a SKU that you’ll only find at Office Depot.

The HP G62 series of laptops are budget oriented and being sold in several configurations this Black Friday. All HP G62 laptops come with a 15.6″ display and Windows 7 Home Premium. A DVD player is included in all versions. The HP G62 has a metallic appearance, but it is made of plastic, unlike the more expensive, and better built, HP Pavilion line.

The HP G62-340US Office Depot is selling comes with 3GB of memory (RAM) and a 320GB hard drive. It’s also configured with an AMD Athlon II processor that ATI Mobility Radeon 4200 series graphics.

The HP G62 comes with a built-in webcam and microphone. Office Depot advertises the HP G62-340US as getting up to four hours of battery life, but these benchmarks often overstate battery performance compared to real-world usage scenarios.

Office Depot will have a minimum of five HP G62 laptops at each of its retail locations. This means you’ll have to line up early the day after Thanksgiving if you hope to buy one for $329.99.

Office Depot is currently selling the same model through its Web site for $399.99 after a $50 manufacturer’s rebate. This means there’s a total of $70 net savings if you can score one of these on Black Friday.

Black Friday Laptop: $279 Lenovo G550 15.6″ Laptop at Office Depot

The Office Depot Black Friday ad for 2010 just leaked and it is full of Black Friday laptop deals. The cheapest Black Friday laptop offered at Office Depot is a Lenovo G550 15.6″ model with an Intel Celeron processor and bargain priced specs. The Lenovo Black Friday laptop is priced at $279. Office Depot lists this as a $200 discount, but the “retail” price they use is quite high for a model with these specs.

The Lenovo G550 is powered by an older Intel Celeron processor, 2GB RAM and has a 250GB hard drive. It runs Windows 7 and has a webcam with built-in microphone. The battery is rated for 4.5 hours

This notebook is very cheap, but that’s because it has the specs of a low end notebook. Low need users who don’t plan on using a lot of programs at once will be OK with this laptop, but users who can afford it would be well served in the long run to spend $50 more on the HP G62 that is on sale at Office Depot on Black Friday for $329 which comes with a dual core processor and more RAM.
