MacWorld 2008

Does Macworld need Apple?

For over 20 years Apple fanboys and enthusiasts have congregated to an annual event known as Macworld Expo. As a lover of Apple products myself, I have attended the expo the last two years and will be sharing my experience at Macworld 2009 here at Notebooks.com. You may have heard that Apple recently announced that Macworld Expo 2009 would be their last. Apple does not organize the event so this does not mean it will be canceled, but without them does that mean that expo is done for? Will fanboys weep in the streets the first full week of January each year? Not anytime soon.

LapDome…A Tent For Your Laptop

LapDomeI just snapped some pics of the the LapDome at MacWorld. The LapDome is basically a tent for your laptop so you can use it as your 'outdoor office.' I think they jacked the mini-display tents from REI and relabeled them as 'laptop' shades, but whatever...

$20,000 iPhone Case: 3.5 Carats of Diamonds, 15 Grams of Gold

iPhone Case Mate Gold DiamondHere's some serious one-of-a-kind bling for your iPhone. These iPhone cases are made out of gold carbon fiber leather. Apple Extreme + hard drive= Time Capsule

macworld0873.jpgApple just announced the Airport Extreme router with a choice of either a 500GB or 1TB drive that can be used to backup with Time Machine. Very cool, but the $499 price tag for the 1GB version is tough to swallow. You can also plug in USB drives to the router for more storage capacity. I wonder if Apple will have some kind of patch that will let us backup with Time Machine on last year's Airport Extreme model.

Live from MacWorld 2008

I'm sitting a couple of hundred feet from the soon to be announced MacBook Air, or whatever Steve Jobs has chosen to call it/them. Unfortunately, I received an email from MacWorld's PR staff while I was at CES that dis-invited me from the Steve Jobs keynote because of capacity issues. Instead of being bitter about missing the keynote, I'm taking it as an opportunity to be one of the first to go hands on with the new MacBooks. As soon as the exhibit hall doors open at 11 am PST, I'm going to dive right into the new MacBook display and start shooting some video and snapping pics.
