The AMD Atholon powered Inspiron M5030 launched in late 2010, but has been updated to include not only a Spanish language version of Windows 7, but also a Spanish Language keybaord.

Dell Inspiron M5030 Laptop With Spanish Language Keyboard

The Dell Inspiron M5030 is powered by an AMD Athlon II P340 processor, has a 320GB hard drive, 3 USB 2.0 ports, a 3-in-1 card reader, VGA out and weighs in at 6 pounds. The 15.6″ display has a resolution of 1366×768. All of these specs are pretty standard, but the Spanish language support, right out of the box is what sets this notebook apart and will likely interest Americans who speak the Spanish, the second most popular language in the U.S.

While you can switch Windows 7 to Spanish fairly quickly, the M5030 will be in Spanish out of the box and will come with a Spanish language keyboard so that keys like the ñ, which would normally take a combination of keystrokes.

The Spanish Language Dell notebook comes from listening to customers, writes Gerald Zapato on the Direct to Dell Blog, “By listening, we realized there was a need to develop a laptop that was 100 percent designed for Spanish speakers, affordable and available in the United States. The concept was to introduce a laptop that meets all of these needs and enables Spanish-speaking families to better communicate and keep in touch with relatives, share information and experience the ultimate in technology. You can read more about this product in Spanish here on the Dellendirecto blog post.”

The Dell Inspiron M5030 is available exclusively at BrandsMart USA retail stores in Florida and Georgia for $499, and can be purchased now. It doesn’t appear to be available online just yet.

Unlike other brand and notebook ratings systems, the Amplicate notebook brand rankings take into account the “Love” and volume each brand receives from social media services. The ratings use a Bayesian average to figure out the brand “Love” Score.

These laptop and notebook brand rankings are refreshed every month and take into account how much users “Love” a brand. Amplicate is able to determine whether a status update or Tweet was a love or hate message and turn that into an overall ranking.

While Apple is leading the way with many more messages, the competition has higher Love percentages, which indicate a loyal commitment, even if it is from a smaller segment of users on social media services.

Some of the brands may not look familiar since this accounts for brands that make notebooks that appear predominantly in other countries. It’s interesting to see the low percentage of Love given to brands like HP, Lenovo and Dell. While they aren’t known for a cult-like following of Apple, these companies all make interesting notebooks.

The social media rankings are based on the status updates and as such, there is a margin of error. For example, if you follow through to the Apple Love or Apple Hate messages on Amplicate you’ll notice some of the updates are blatant fanboy comments praising or hating on Apple. The sentiment can be further misleading due to the fact that many of these brands make more than just notebooks.

What do you think about these rankings? What’s your favorite notebook brand.

Starting with the Alienware M17x, a 17.3″ 3D gaming notebook, Klipsch speakers will be the go to delibery method for music and gaming on Alienware notebooks.

Many notebooks are focusing on the audio quality these days, but with the addition of Klipsch speakers Dell is setting the tone for the Alienware notebooks. Klipsch has long been known as a premium audio brand and we are hopeful that the Klipsch speakers in the new gaming notebooks will deliver premium sound.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to team up with Alienware and can’t wait to experience the excitement in the marketplace surrounding the release of this new laptop series,” said Chris Aiello, Klipsch product manager for personal audio in a press release announcing the new audio collaboration. “By fusing 3D technology with unmatched built-in, Klipsch-refined laptop sound performance, Alienware is truly defining an entirely new product category. We’re thrilled to play a role in it.”

The Alienware M17x is a 17.3″ 3D gaming notebook powered by the latest Intel Sandy Bridge processores and powerful AMD Radeon or NVIDIA graphics. The Alienware M17x won our Best Notebook of CES 2011 award when we were able to give it a look earlier this year.

In addition to the newer specs, the Alienware M17x is also thinner and lighter than the previous generations; not a small feat for a gaming notbook packed with high end components. The M17x comes with WiDI 2.0 to stream HD content to your HDTV or can be configured with WirelessHD for higher fidelity streaming that allows you to play games on a wireless monitor or HDTV.

You can order the Alienware M17x right now from Dell, starting at $1,499 with an estimated ship date of March 30th.

Specifically high priced ultraportables that have been in direct competition with the MacBook Air such as the Dell Adamo and more recently the HP Envy 13, even the Dell XPS 14 wasn’t safe as it was put to rest alongside the Envy 13 this week.

For the past few years these high end notebooks had an edge on the original MacBook Air in terms of specs and were competitive on pricing, but after the MacBook Air refresh last year they lost an edge on pricing as well as weight and thickness. And, as it turns out, many users looking for an ultraportable are willing to use a slower Core 2 Duo processor if it means they get an all day battery and an incredibly small form factor.

Why MacBook Air Competitors Can’t Compete

High Power, High prices: The current MacBook Air is succeeding in part due to the great balance of price and power. While the older competitors chose to try and beat the original MacBook Air in the Specs department, this also meant that they couldn’t compete as well on price — and even less so when the new MacBook Air models came out with lower starting prices.

Apple Store – Ping Ping on Flickr

No Retail Presence: It turns out that the lack of a retail presence isn’t just leading to higher tablet prices, it’s hurting the ability for ultraportables from Dell and HP to gain traction. If you can find someone with an ENVY 13 or a Dell Adamo, go take a look at the notebooks. They are really nice looking machines, that product photos can’t do justice. Similarly the image of the MacBook Air are nice looking, but don’t do the machine justice.

Now remember the first time you saw a MacBook Air in person at retail or at a coffee shop? Being able to see how thin it really is, is important to the buying process. Because HP and Dell don’t have retail locations and you couldn’t find the Envy 13 or Adamo in Best Buy, there was really no way to get a look at the notebooks, which is pretty much essential to developing an appreciation for their key features.

Niche Products: As it turns out the market for incredibly powerful ultraportables is small. No, like really small. Apple showed users what can be accomplished with a fast SSD and an older processor and it turns out, that’s enough power for many users that want a truly thin and light ultraportable notebook. Apple has positioned the Air as not only entry-level Mac, but also an entry-level ultraportable.

Best Buy – jiazi on Flickr

Market Demands of Average Consumers: Most shoppers are looking for a larger 15.6″ notebook or a small netbook, which means that there aren’t a lot of ultraportable 13″ or 14″ notebooks on the shelves in retail. Unfortunately for consumers looking for something more, the market responds to the demands of users and buying habits have made it clear that large low resolution notebooks are what they want. Hopefully the MacBook Air and new thin and light notebooks will spark a desire for something more.

The Future of MacBook Air Competitors: So, what’s a PC maker to do? Go thin and light in 2011. The good news is that from the looks of it pretty much every major manufacturer is planning a thin and light notebook this year from Acer, Asus and Lenovo to Dell and HP. We’ll have to wait and see if these companies can get to market before the next MacBook Air models arrive and if they can compete on price.

This deal is a savings of $299 and is an amazing value for an Intel Core i5 processor, even with new Core i processors coming out soon.

The Dell Inspiron 14R is a 14″ laptop from Dell with a 2.53GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB RAm and a 500GB hard drive. This model comes with a webcam, integrated microphone and SRS premium sound

The Dell Inspiron 14R is a step up from the Insipron line with an emphasis on entertainment and a more upscale look than you would find on budget notebooks from Dell.

As sold by Microsoft the Inspiron 14R comes with Microsoft Signature, an optimized installation of Windows designed to speed up the machine and cut out the bloat that most new computers ship with. A machine purchased from Microsoft through this store is as close as you’ll come to an Apple out of the box experience.

This deal on the Microsoft optimized Dell Inspiron 14r won’t last long.
