			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <a href="http://www1.euro.dell.com/uk/en/home/Laptops/inspiron-1018/pd.aspx?refid=inspiron-1018&amp;s=dhs&amp;cs=ukdhs1">Dell Inspiron Mini 1018</a>, a 10.1&#8243; netbook running a new Intel Atom N455 processor and sporting a more stylish body, has started shipping in Europe and is expected to arrive stateside soon.</p>

<p>The Dell Inspiron mini 1018 comes with a 10.1&#8243; display running at 1024&#215;600 and is powered by the new Intel Atom N455 1.66GHz CPU, 1GB DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive and is running Windows 7 Starter. The netbook takes styling cues from the <a href="http://www.notebooks.com/2010/06/20/dell-inspiron-r-notebooks-announced/">Inspiron R series of notebooks</a> and is  expected to join the current Mini line instead of replacing a current netbook model. Additionally, users can expect a new touchpad with discrete buttons and single gesture functionality and a newly textured palmrest.</p>
<p>According to the announcement on <a href="http://en.community.dell.com/dell-blogs/Direct2Dell/b/direct2dell/archive/2010/08/19/hot-out-of-the-oven-the-new-mini-1018.aspx">Dell&#8217;s Europe community blog</a>, the Mini 1018 will be sold alongside the Current <a href="http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/laptop-inspiron-1012?c=us&amp;cs=19&amp;l=en&amp;s=dhs&amp;redirect=1">Mini 1012</a> as a sparser option for more casual users. Notably you won&#8217;t be configuring the 1018 with a Broadcom HD Accelerator and other options.</p>
<p>The Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 will be available this Fall, though no U.S. pricing has been announced.</p>

<p>- Well built</p>
<p>- Nice keyboard</p>
<p>- Decent battery life from 3-cell battery</p>
<p>- Well featured</p>
<p>- Newer Mini 10 models feature higher resolution screens</p>
<p>- Extended 6-cell battery available</p>
<p>- Color choices sets it apart from most other netbooks</p>
<p>Cons:</p>
<p>- RAM not ugradeable beyond 1GB</p>
<p>- GMA500 Graphics engine does not render video very well</p>
<p>- New 10v does not yet have high resolution option</p>
<p>- New 10v has decreased hard drive capacity (down to 120GB)</p>
