Hi Kevin,

Great article, thanks a lot. I followed the steps of replacing my old hd with the seagate momentus xt hybrid hd into my macbook pro, before finding your article and did the final part of erasing the hd differently. Now I have a problem and I hope you can help me out with my problem.

What I did was the following: before restoring the system, I needed to prepare the drive properly because the restore wizard was not detecting my new seagate drive.

For the drive preparation I opened disk utility, clicked the partition tab. nder the volume scheme I set the number of partitions to 1, with format type Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Then I clicked on the Options button and set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs). Then I clicked Apply and the process was completed.

Then I selected the volume I just created and clicked the Erase tab in the disk utility main window. I set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and clicked on the options button, and checked the button for Zero Out Data. Then I clicked Erase. The Erase process started and found afterwards your article and noticed that I only had to do a simple erase as can be seen in your video.

So I skipped the Zero Out Data and deleted the partition I already created. After this I did what you recommended in your video and restored the system afterwards selecting my drive as the destination.

Now the restore process finished and when I start up my macbook pro it keeps telling me on a grey background 'You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button..'.

Could you please tell me what I did wrong and advise me what to do now to solve my problem? Thanks a lot
