By  |  5 Comments

Dell refreshed the Dell Latitude E Family of laptops in San Francisco today and as part of this event the company announced the new Dell Latitude E6520 business class notebook. The Latitude E6520 is a 15″ notebook that is engineered to military standards for enhanced and proven durability. This model is a few steps up the chain from the Latitude E5420 and Latitude E5520 laptops which are designed for use on you desk or on the road; not in rugged environments.

Dell Latitude E6520 Processor and Graphics Options:

The Dell Latitude E6520 uses the latest Intel 2nd Generation Core i family of processors which make use of better integrated graphics, but can also be configured with NVIDIA NVS 4200M discrete graphics.  The E6520 can support up to 8GB of RAM and offers numerous hard drive options ranging from standard to encrypted or SSD. The 15.6″ anti-glare display on the Latitude E6520 can be configured with a multitouch option or with resolutions up to 1920 x 1080.

Dell Latitude E6520 Durability Features:

Like the rest of the Dell Latitude E Family of notebooks the E6520 comes with a spill resistant keyboard and a protective seal to prevent items from getting in between your screen and the keyboard while your laptop is closed. Additionally the base is powder coated and the entire notebook is tested to meet MIL-STD 810G specifications for temperature, vibration, dust and high altitudes.

Dell Latitude E6520 Usability and Battery Options:

The Latitude E6520 comes with a full size backlit keyboard that includes a dedicated number pad. The 15.6″ display can be open to 180 degrees to help users find the perfect angle for working on the go. Users will appreciate a wide range of battery options including 4 and 6 cell Express charge battery options. There are also several mobile broadband connectivity options to get you connected when you are out of the office.

Dell Latitude E6520 Security Options:

From a security standpoint the Dell Latitude E6520 is secured with Dell Data Protection and ControlVault tools and your data is protected from falls with the integrated hard drive freefall sensor. There are also options for fingerprint and contactless smart card access and the ability to lock down ports to prevent data leaks.

“USB 3.0 Module option via optical bay” = huge fail! How can they not be making all USB ports 3.0 at this point?
