HP Adds 2nd Gen Intel Core i Processors to Pavilion dv6t and dv7t Quad

HP is now offering the latest 2nd Generation Intel Core i processors in the Pavilion dv6t Quad Edtion and Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition laptops available for purchase on HP.com. The new processor options are only available for the Intel Core i7 Quad core configurations as the less mainstream dual core versions of the new Intel processors won’t be available until February or March.

The HP Pavilion dv6t Quad and dv7t Quad laptops are aimed at demanding users who want to take advantage of the fastest Intel processors which now come with Intel HD3000 integrated graphics. The new Intel graphics are built right into the processor and are remarkably better than past generations, though gamers will likely still want to opt for the discrete ATI graphics cards.

The new processor choices are:

  • 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2630QM (2 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.9 GHz
  • 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2720QM (2.2 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.3 GHz
  • 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2820QM (2.3 GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz

The HP Pavilion dv6t Quad Edition comes with up to 8GB RAM, a 1TB hard drive and can be configured with a 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6570 GPU as well as a backlit keyboard. The dv6t has a 15.6″ display with a 1366 x 768 resolution. The base price currently starts at $899

The Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition comes with up to 8GB of RAM, up to a 2TB hard drive, and the optional 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6570 GPU and also includes HP Beats audio for an enhanced audio experience. The 17.3″ display has a 1600 x 900 resolution and can be upgraded to a Brigthview Infinity display if desired. The base price currently starts at $999.
