Google Chrome Cr-48 Hacked to Run Mac OS X, Ubuntu & Windows

It was only a matter of time before someone hacked the Google CR-48 Chrome OS Notebook to run other operating systems. There is a Youtube video showing the result of a user loading Mac OS X onto the computer and demonstrating that much of it works with just a little effort.

What you see in the video below is the results of the user who had to flash the BIOS of the notebook to get it to run Mac OS X. He says that most everything works fine except for the hardware video acceleration, making it a little slow, and the trackpad which sort of works but when he taps on it to do a click the computer instead performs a click and hold, like you would do if you were going to drag something, like a file or icon from one place to another.

The person who made the video said he will post a guide on how to do it but as far as we can tell has not yet done so.

Engadget has a link to a forum post explaining how to flash the BIOS to get it to work. As the post warns, before attempting this be sure you first know what you are doing and second won’t be terribly upset if you brick  your CR-48.

If you are not into Mac OS X you have other options. Someone has put Ubuntu Linux on it and the person who installed OS X has also installed Windows 7, the results of which are in the video below:
