Black Friday Laptop: Dual Core Toshiba L655D-S5093 – $349 at Best Buy

| November 12, 2010 | 16 Comments

The Best Buy Black Friday 2010 ad has leaked and there are a large number of Black Friday Laptop Deals at Best Buy this year. Included in these Black Friday Laptops is the Toshiba L655D-S5093 for $349. The Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5093 is a dual core notebook with decent specs and is worth a look for average users. For $100 more you can choose the Toshiba L655D-S5109 which includes more memory, more RAM and a wireless printer.

According to the leaked ad there will be a minimum of 10 Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5093 notebooks per store with no rainchecks.

The Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5093 is a 15.6″ notebook with a dual-core AMD Turion II processor, 3GB RAM and a 320 GB hard drive. It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium and has a webcam. We expect the 15.6″ display to have a 1366 x 768 resolution to be powered by an ATI Radeon HD 4250 GPU with 256MB dedicated video memory.

This notebook should meet the needs of most home users who are looking for a general use notebook to surf the web, keep in touch with family and friends and edit documents. You won’t be gaming on it, but you should be alright to watch videos as well as do some light photo editing. If you’re patient you could probably do a small amount of video editing for uploading clips to YouTube.

The specs on Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5093 place it in line with the 15.6″ HP G62-347NR notebook from RadioShack which also comes with a dual core processor. If you had to choose between a $299 single core notebook with 2GB of RAM, like we saw in early Black Friday sales, and a dual core notebook like one of these we highly reccomend spending the extra $50 for a dual-core machine.

Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5093 Specs:

  • Dual-core AMD Turion II processor
  • 15.6″ display with 1366 x 768 resolution*
  • ATI Radeon HD 4250 GPU*
  • 3GB RAM
  • 320 GB hard drive
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Webcam

*Assumption based on model numbers

  1. Best Buy Black Friday: Black Friday Laptop Deals at Best Buy | November 12, 2010
  1. Rich says:

Between this Toshiba and the Sony laptop Best Buy has for Black Friday which one do you recommend?

    Thanks

  2. Taryn says:

I have the S5920 and I plan on buying the new Toshiba on Black Friday as i want to upgrade. I would recommend the Toshiba!

  3. P. says:

    dont buy it.

    it’s shitty.

  4. balla01 says:

Does this laptop have a microphone as well?? I am trying to decide between this one or the Sony as well.

  5. aqf says:

For $350 you are getting the second – to – lowest line of mobile processors from AMD with the Toshiba.

It is definitely a better deal than an Athlon II core system because it has double the cache.

This definitely looks like a good deal to me, but I called Best Buy and these Toshiba’s currently sell for $379. So does $30 off really qualify for a Black Friday deal?

  6. Nick920 says:

The Toshiba is much better. Sony Laptops are not Sony quality as you would expect.

  7. Otash says:

I had two Sony laptops in the past 5 years, both lasted 2-2,5 years only. The first one had CD/DVD problem, and the video card went off on the second one (ha-ha, it was mounted onto motherboard, so I had to trash entire laptop). I bought Toshiba last black-Friday (Ram 4Gb, Hard 250Gb, 15,6″, AMD Turion X2 64) and this machines still works perfectly fine. Get Toshiba over Sony without any hesitation.

  8. Otash says:

By the way, No need to stand on big line till 5 AM just to get this laptop. Instead, buy “Best buy %10 off coupon” for 99 cent on eBay and come back to Best Buy any other day, when this laptop is $379, use your %10 off coupon, get even cheaper deal on this laptop not waiting all night long. Cheers!

  9. Ally says:

Why is BestBuy showing the Toshiba laptop for $800 if it is normally $379? Are they trying to play a trick on us?

  10. Chris says:

Otash, would you say your laptop from last year was worth the money? As the specs are about the same, what do you use your laptop for?

  11. ivan says:

is this computer good for gaming

  12. mtfireman says:

I saw this toshiba on BestBuy’s web site for $799

  13. jb says:

i have it it is crap

  14. Texheim says:

i’ve got it, did a little ram upgrade to 8gb and win7 pro and it’s now a great computer.
