How to Get Student Discounts from Apple, Dell, Lenovo, HP and Others

If you haven’t already, you may be planning on buying a new computer for the coming Fall semester. What you may not know is that many companies offer significant educational discounts and promotions to college students on notebooks and accessories. Take a look at the list below to take advantage of the hottest deals, promotions, and resources available to college students, direct from the manufacturer.

Apple

Apple offers many discounts and promotions on both hardware and software. The company’s most famous promotion is the free 8GB iPod Touch with purchase of a new Mac which can be purchased with student discounts of up to $300. Dell

Dell University offers discounts up to $200 off for students and faculty. Other back to school promotions include 5% off PCs and 15% of select Alienware PCS. It also contains an educational section comparing Dell products with similar Apple counterparts, listing possible things you could do/buy with the extra $1000 you will save by buying a Dell over a Mac, such as concert “tix”. Additionally, you can enter to win $10,500 worth of stuff to “amp up your rez”.

Lenovo

Lenovo offers discounts off select netbooks, notebooks, and All-in-Ones. Take $660 off the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 or $310 off the Lenovo IdeaCentre A300. There are lots of deals to be had here. Also, Lenovo provides an educational section on what computer would be best suited for a specific major. There are many additional coupons and special offers from Lenovo.

Hewlett Packard

HP Academy offers up to $250 off select PCs, as well as Microsoft Office Professional Academic for only $99.99. Aside from HP Academy, anyone can take advantage of HP’s $100 instant rebate, free 500GB hard drive upgrade, free 4 year LoJack upgrade, and free 3 year Norton Internet Security subscription. HP also provides a recommended list of PCs for college students.

Sony

Sony is currently offering up to $500 off select VAIO notebooks. Plus students get a free Adobe Bundle, valued at $448, which includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0, Adobe Premier Elements 8.0, and Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.0. ASUS

ASUS does offer educational material for students, but no real discounts. On their interactive “Campus Life” website, you can choose a persona that is the most similar to you, and ASUS will recommend a computer tailored to your needs.

Edhance

In addition to company specific deals, Edhance offers cash back on notebooks and items from different manufacturers. Get cash back on items purchased from Apple. Sony, Lenovo, Dell, Toshiba, and Fujitsu. Edhance is a good catch-all for deals on electronics and other items.
