I have a IPOD Touch 16G Polaris. It Has the 2.2 OS. Why can’t I update it to a more recent version?

^^ john i seem to be having the same problem, perhaps you have found out what to do? as i type i am currently syncing every single possible app on my iPod onto my iTunes library, if this proves successful, i shall re-comment.
